STYLE ICON OF THE MOMENT: CHERIE BOMB

A veces nos olvidamos que Marilyn fue actriz, cantante, modelo y productora de cine, en un momento en que las mujeres tenían su lugar en la cocina. Muchos dicen de ella que tenia una característica única, un comportamiento un tanto infantil que a veces la hacia elevarse y brillar como un diamante entre escombros y otras la hacia sumirse en lo mas oscuro, de ahí sus crisis y su trágico final.

Bus Stop es una obra de William Inge, un drama romántico con ligeros toques de comedia. Transcurre en un diner a 25 km de Kansas, una tormenta obliga a los 8 personajes a refugiarse en un diner durante unas 4 horas. Es la actuación de Monroe mas aclamada por la critica, por primera vez pone toda la carne en el asador.

También el vestuario tiene mención a parte, desde el traje de cabaretera al look de falda negra, top, zapato negro semiabierto con tacón y bolso de mano con énfasis en joyería  pasando por las gabardinas... todo nos recuerda a Octubre. Esta época en que te pones una prenda ligera con calcetines altos o medias poco tupidas y encima una chaqueta no muy gruesa y que te resguarde por si llueve, porque nunca sabes como va a acabar el día. Es un tiempo que siempre me recuerda a Los Angeles: sol de día, frío de noche.

Bus Stop is a 1955 play by William Inge drama, with romantic and some comedic elements.The play is set in a diner about 25 miles west of Kansas City in early March 1955. A freak snowstorm has halted the progress of the bus, and the eight characters (five on the bus) have a weather-enforced layover in the diner from approximately 1 to 5 a.m. Romantic or quasi-romantic relationships ensue between Grace and Carl, Professor Lyman and Elma and Cherie and Bo. Virgil and Will are the older authority figures outside the relationships.

Cherie — A pretty young woman who comes from a difficult "hill folk" background, and has left her innocence far behind. She is an aspiring nightclub singer, but has never worked in any establishment above the level of "cheap dive". Is the most acclaimed show performed by Marilyn, is like she's proviing to herself she's an actress.

Costumes also have a mention a part, from cabaret costume to the black skirt look with autumn top, black semi-open heeled shoe and the tiny handbag with emphasis on jewelry through the trench and the coats ... everything reminds us of October. This is the time when you wear a lightweight dress with high socks or light stockings with a not too thick jacket to safeguard you in case it rains, because you never know how it will end the day. It is a time that always reminds me of Los Angeles: sun by day, cold at night.

PLATINUM FEVER

Conocida como la "blonde Bombshell" y la "Platinum Blonde" (debido a su pelo rubio platino), Jean Harlow fue una de las primera rubia platino que tuvo repercusión.

En pleno apogeo de su éxito, muchas de sus fans femeninas se tiñeron el pelo de rubio platino como ella, e incluso Howard Hughes organizó un concurso en el cual el peluquero que más se acercara al tono de rubio de la actriz, recibiría un premio de 10.000 dólares.

Nadie hizo más con una taza de blanqueador que Marilyn. Sus ondas de platino (teñido con una fórmula secreta desarrollada por Gladys Rasmussen) se convirtieron en su marca registrada, junto con su eyeliner y esos brillantes labios rojos. Sin embargo, a pesar de que pasaba horas sentada en el salón, para ella no era sufrimiento el tiempo invertido en su belleza. "No me importa tener que responsabilizarme de ser glamorosa y un icono sexual", dijo una vez. "Si voy a ser imagen de algo, prefiero serlo del sexo que de algunas otras cosas de las que ya tenemos símbolos".

Más tarde tuvimos a Madonna, quien hizo de su pelo el nombre de una de sus giras: "Blonde Ambition", y que también apareció en la portada de la revista Vanity Fair posando como la grande M.M.
