080: COLMADO SHOP

El martes Barcelona abría el nuevo edificio DHUB en Glòries para acoger el 080, con multitud de desfiles y gente postureando. No pude asistir ya que tenia que trabajar en un proyecto mientras hubiera luz solar, pero al llegar la noche dejé las Converse y mis Dr.Denim en casa y me preparé para la inauguración de la nueva tienda/galería COLMADO.

Nos invitaron a conocer entre amigos, vino y Moritz bien frías  este acogedor espacio donde podemos encontrar zapatos Deux Souliers, ropa de Manuel Bolaño y otras delicatessen para los amantes de lo bonito y bien hecho.

Como era su primer evento expusieron la nueva colección inv 13-14 de Manuel Bolaño. Una gran suerte para mi porque no había podido ir al desfile ese día.

Sortearon obsequios relacionados con la nueva colección del diseñador pero no se a quien le tocaron. Alguien lo vio?

ONE DAY YOU WILL FIND ME

Dania Shihab es una artista australiana nacida en Baghdad, fotógrafa y miembro de un colectivo de artistas en Barcelona llamado Detakon.

Actualmente vive y trabaja en Barcelona. Shihab cogió una cámara como una forma de liberar algo de su energía creativa. "La mayoría de las fotografías está tratando de capturar un poco de magia, un momento fugaz, un gesto irrepetible pero fluctúan entre alguien que quiere apoderarse de la espontaneidad y el humor y alguien que quiere crear una imagen", dice ella. El resultado es una cartera que ofrece una gran variedad de estilos y temas, cada uno brillante a su manera.

Esta es la entrevista que le hicieron en LeCool con motivo de su exposición/weblaunching en Cyborg Foundation el pasado viernes:

¿Cómo viniste a parar a Barcelona y qué es lo que hizo que te decidieras a vivir aquí?

Vine con la intención de viajar por el mundo, y una noche en un concierto en Barcelona conocí a mi novio. Yo no hablaba nada de castellano y él no hablaba nada de inglés, pero nos enamoramos. Y ahora, un año y medio después todavía sigo aquí.

¿De qué hablan tus fotografías?

De aquellos iconos, objetos y acontecimientos que son susceptibles de permanecer en la conciencia colectiva, los cuales reflejan una noción idealizada de la realidad y una decadente concepción del sentimentalismo. A veces trato de captar momentos mágicos y en otros momentos los creo.

¿En qué consiste el proyecto “One Day You Will Find Me” que presentarás el próximo 18 de enero en la Cyborg Foundation?

“One Day You Will Find Me” es un sitio web bilingüe, en el cual he entrevistado a casi 100 ilustradores, artistas de mixed media y fotógrafos, tanto emergentes como consolidados. Empecé el proyecto en agosto del 2012 porque tenía curiosidad sobre los artistas internacionales, sobre sus vidas, sus hábitos, sobre ellos en general, no sólo el simple hecho de ver las obras online.

¿Nos puedes desvelar algunos de los ilustradores que participan en el proyecto o es todo sorpresa?

Todo será publicado por la web “One Day You Will Find Me” el dia 18 enero para el inauguración. Se puede ver alguna idea en la página de facebook.

Un lugar de Barcelona en el que te gusta perderte…

En cualquier lugar donde se celebre alguna fiesta de Detakon, o de mis otros amigos músicos, o en Cafés El Magnífico, que tienen el mejor café en Barcelona.

¿Un sueño?

Que este proyecto acabe desembocando en el lanzamiento impreso de una revista de arte de periodicidad bianual, la cual contendría trabajos exclusivos de artistas internacionales, entrevistas y visitas a estudios. Me gustaría abrir una galería en los próximos años aquí.

¿Y un secreto?

En la actualidad soy doctora.

Dania Shihab is an Iraq-born photographer who now lives and works in Barcelona. After becoming exhausted working as a medical doctor, Shihab picked up a camera as a way of releasing some of her creative energy. "Most of the time photography for me is trying to capture a little bit of magic, a fleeting moment, an unrepeatable gesture but I fluctuate between someone who wants to seize spontaneity and humour and someone who wants to create an image," she says. The result is a portfolio featuring a huge variety of styles and subjects, each brilliant in their own way.

This is the interview LeCool did for her exhibition in Cyborg Foundation last Friday:

How did you come to Barcelona and what made ​​you decide to live here?

I came with the intention of traveling the world, and one night at a concert in Barcelona I met my boyfriend. I did not speak spanish and he did not speak any English, but we fell in love. And now, a year and a half later I'm still here.

What do they talk your photos about?

Of those icons, objects and events that are likely to remain in the collective consciousness, which reflect an idealized notion of reality and a decadent conception of sentimentality. Sometimes I try to capture magical moments.

What is the project "One Day You Will Find Me" be presenting on 18 January in the Cyborg Foundation?

"One Day You Will Find Me" is a bilingual website, in which I have interviewed nearly 100 illustrators, mixed media artists and photographers, both emerging and consolidated. I started the project in August 2012 because I was curious about international artists about their lives, their habits, they generally do not just simply see the works online.

Can you explain some of the illustrators involved in the project or is it all a surprise?

Everything will be posted on the web "One Day You Will Find Me" on the 18th January for the inauguration. You can see some ideas on the facebook page.

 A place where you like to lose yourself...

Wherever you can celebrate a Detakon party, or Cafés El Magnifico, they have the best coffee in Barcelona.

A dream?

This project runs leading to the launch of a biannual art magazine, which contain exclusive works of international artists, interviews and studio visits. I'd like to open a gallery in the next few years here.

And a secret?

I'm a doctor.

Hay dos cosas en esta vida sin las que no podría vivir. Una es el café, mi taza de café por las mañanas sobrepasa los limites de lo normal. Cuando iba al instituto me tomaba 4 cafés al día  con leche; poco a poco empece a pasarme al café solo y ahora he cambiado esos 4 cafés a diferentes horas por una taza XXL de buena mañana.
Deberíamos incluir también la Coca-Cola que NO puede faltar durante la comida , pero como es una bebida cafeínica creo que puedo incluirla como café (JA!).

La otra cosa que siempre esta presente en mi día a día si o si son los chats. Desde que empecé con el IRC a los 16 no he parado y ahora con lo del wassup ya es una locura: CHATEO DESDE EL TELÉFONO  Dios, no me puedo cansar de vivir en el futuro.

Por eso cuando supe de la existencia de Shannon Coffey me hice fan inmediatamente  No es solo que ella sea una especie de alterego de mi yo misma interior al que solo dejo salir en compañía de Rafa, si no que trata temas tan importantes como PLANT FRIENDS! o GET FIT, GET HEALTHY (llevo 3 días yendo al gimnasio y creo que tengo vigorexia).

Sus clases de como peinarse son el máximo exponente de como reírte de los ahora tan aclamados blogs de belleza, le da de comer a su gato y le pregunta si quiere café, trae a sus amigos al programa que graba desde su habitación (no puedo parar de preguntarme si vive con sus padres) y beben café y hablan de chicos, de citas o de series de televisión. 

Es imposible que no te guste Coffey Chat, aun con ese timbre de voz que te hace bajar el volumen y rezar por subtitulos.

There are two things in this life without which I could not live. One is coffee, my cup of coffee in the morning beyond the limits of normal. When I was in high school I took four coffees a day with milk but slowly started to change to black coffee and now I've changed those 4 coffees at different times for a XXL cup of good morning.

We should also include the Coca-Cola that can not be missed during the meal, but as a cafeinic drink I think it can be included as coffee (ha!).

The other thing that is always present in my day to day whether it is rainning or snowing are chats. Since I started with the IRC at 16 I have not stopped, and now this wassup thing is crazy: chatting from my phone! I can not get tired of living in the future.

So when I learned of the existence of Shannon Coffey immediately I became a fan. Not just because she is a kind of alter ego of hiiden ME that I let out only in company of Rafa, but also because she treats such important topics as PLANT FRIENDS! or GET FIT, GET HEALTHY (I've been going to gym for 3 and think I have vigorexia).

Her hairdressing classes are the leading exponent of how to laugh at beauty blogs, she feeds her cat and asks him if he wants coffee, bring her friends to the program that she records from her room (I can't stop wondering if she lives with her parents) and they drink coffee and talk about boys, dating or television series.

It is impossible not to like Coffey Chat, even with that tone of voice that makes you turn down the volume and pray for captions.

STYLE ICON OF THE MOMENT: VELVET GOLDMINE AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES 2013.

Dicen que no hay nada mejor que una gran gala para confirmar una tendencia y los Golden Globes 2013 fuero prueba fehaciente de ello. Dejando a un lado las pobres que mostraron pierna a lo Angelina y el monotematico color nude; el atrevimiento por las transparencias, la gama metálica y los tonos violeta fueron los mas comentados de la noche.

Aunque en estos tiempos moderados la mayoría de las estrellas optaron por la apuesta segura (rojo, muy poco favorecedor en el diseño de Versace que lucia Claire Danes; negro, con Kirsten Wiig y ese maravilloso escote de Michael Kors; o la cromática blanco/beige y derivados), no faltaron las pocas atrevidas que acertaron al mas puro estilo de Brian Slade.

Estamos hablando de la mujer de Jon Hamm (esta pobre mujer que por mas papeles que haga sera siempre recordada por su atractivo marido) con un elegante pero nada desapercibido vestido púrpura de Naeem Khan o de Julianna Marguiles, nominada por The Good Wife, que optó por las transparencias de Pucci o tambien de Nicole Ritchie a lo Ziggy Stardust con un maquillaje colorido y vestido (repetimos) de Naeem Khan. Estas tres mujeres tan diferentes entre ellas, se suman a esta tendencia que poco a poco va ganando adeptos.

Julianne Moore como siempre exquisita, no quiso decantarse mucho aunque su Tom Ford algo quería insinuar de esa época en la que los chicos llevaban plataformas y el algodón era un tejido se diría casi desconocido para la moda.

Entre las que no acertaron en esta gala se encuentra Rachel Weisz, aunque no fue de las peores. Kate Hudson sin embargo estaba deliciosa en un Alexander McQueen negro con apliques dorados y joyería de Jennifer Meyer.

Mención a parte merece Lucy Liu, creo que salio a medio rodaje de Alicia en el país de las maravillas y no le daba tiempo a cambiarse. Algo parecido debió sucederle a Marion Cotillard, que había quedado con unas amigas para tomar algo en Manhattan y se acordó de golpe de lo de los premios, y se vino así, simple.

They say there's nothing better than a great gala to confirm a trend, and the 2013 Golden Globes are a proof of that jurisdiction. Leaving aside the poor ones trying to emulate the showing leg of Angelina and the monothematic nude color; the boldness of the transparencies, the metallic range and the violet tones were the most talked about of the night.

Although in these moderate days most of the stars opted for the safe bet (red, very unflattering the Versace in Claire Danes, black, with Kirsten Wiig and that wonderful Michael Kors neckline, or the color white / beige and derivatives), there were still a few adventurers that matched the purest style of Brian Slade.

We're talking about Jon Hamm's wife (this poor woman who for more roles that will do she always be remembered for its attractive husband) with an elegant but not unnoticed purple Naeem Khan dress or Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife nominee who chose a Pucci with transparencies or also Nicole Ritchie a la Ziggy Stardust with colorful makeup and dressed (again) of Naeem Khan. These three women as different one from another,dressed so similar it's a sign that this trend is slowly gaining popularity.

Julianne Moore as always exquisite, was not opting much, although its Tom Ford wanted to suggest something of that age when boys wore platforms and the cotton fabric you would say was nearly unknown to fashion.

Among those not clearly inspired at this gala was Rachel Weisz, though it was not the worst. Au contraire Kate Hudson was delicious in a black Alexander McQueen with little golden appliques and Jennifer Meyer Jewelry.

Deserving an apart mention is Lucy Liu. I think maybe she was filming Alice in Wonderland and she had no time to change before the gala... Something similar happened to Marion Cotillard, who maybe was with some friends for a drink in Manhattan and suddenly remembered about the Golden Globes, and came dresses for a girls nite out, instead of a glamorous gala.

LAMONOMAGAZINE

Todavía no estábamos en 2013 (hola, vivimos en el futuro) y salia a la luz la ultima lamonomagazine del año.

La Mono la leía yo cuando era joven y soñaba en publicar en revistas independientes que trataran arte, moda y música en una misma edición. No es una revista de ahora, llevan años en el mercado y eso significa que algo deben estar haciendo bien.

Empezaron con una faceta mas arty, volcándose sobre todo en el street art y toda la cultura 90´s para mas tarde dar paso a su cara mas sport. Actualmente tratan el street desde todos sus puntos de vista: skate, snowboard, fotografía  pintura... nada se les escapa a esta pequeña crew de cazatalentos, que con su concurso Bright Hunter se posicionan como una revista de tendencias globales no convencional.

Por eso me encanto que pensaran en mi para esta editorial shooteada por Crista Leonard en Andorra, un fin de semana de invierno. Gracias al Albergue Borda Jovell, a Iris & Oli y a  todos los showrooms que nos prestaron la ropa para hacerlo posible.

We were not still in 2013 (hello, we live in the future) and lamonomagazine came out as a spaceship rocket.

I used to read LaMono when I was young and I dreamed to publish in journals that were treating independent art, fashion and music in a single edition. And here I am now making my dreams come true, If they have spent years in the market and keep on rockin...that means you must be doing something right!

They started with a more arty side, turning on all the street art and culture throughout the later 90's to make way for their more expensive sport. Currently trying the street from all points of view: skateboarding, snowboarding, painting photography ... nothing escapes to this little crew scouting, whose contest Bright Hunter have positioned themselves as a global fashion magazine unconventional.

So I love they thought of me for this editorial by Crista Leonard in Andorra, a winter weekend. Thanks to Hostel Borda Jovell, Iris & Oli and all the showrooms that make it possible.
